Word on the Street Literary Festival

A Great Day for Tempus International at the Word on the Street Festival

September 27, 2009

Toronto, Canada - Tempus International is pleased to announce a very successful day at its booth on Literacy Lane at Toronto’s the Word on the Street Festival on Sunday, September 27, 2009.

This incredible one-day event is Canada’s largest book and magazine festival. The event celebrates reading and advocates for literacy. Over 200,000 people attended last year’s event, which features everything the literary world has to offer for both adults and children.

Each year, festival organizers set aside 20 booths on Literacy Lane to feature charities that advocate for literacy and deliver education based programming either in Canada or around the world. Tempus International was awarded a booth on Literacy Lane as one of the featured charities for 2009 in Toronto.

Tempus International is a Canadian-based charity that works to promote sustainable development by organizing literacy and education projects that provide opportunities for underprivileged youth to get ahead in life. Its largest program is “The Mighty Pen” a bi-annual writing competition for over 15,000 youth in Nepal.

Visitors to Tempus International’s display booth learned about its The Mighty Pen project and kids were encouraged to write letters of good luck to the kids in Nepal that are currently participating in the writing competition in Nepal. Thanks to everyone who participated by writing messages and check back soon for the messages to be posted here on our website!
