Kathmandu, Nepal - Kavitaram Children’s Literature Promotion Venture, Children’s Forum Nepal decorated Tempus International with a prestigious “Letter of Appreciation” at a formal awards ceremony in Kathmandu today. On hand to accept the award was the Canadian founder of Tempus, Chris de Eyre, and the charity’s Nepal Country Director, Kushum Maharjan.

Tempus International has been organizing a bi-annual national level children’s literary writing competition in Nepal for boys and girls at the higher secondary, secondary and lower secondary levels. Over 13,000 Nepalese youth participated in the 2007 “The Mighty Pen” writing competition (formerly known as “Blooming Buds”) and 18 national winners were selected based on their original short-story writing entries. In addition, the winning entries were published into a children’s book and over 3,000 copies were distributed to libraries across the country.
The Kavitaram venture was established by Dr. Kavitaram Shrestha to recognize the outstanding contributions of organizations and individuals to children’s literature in Nepal.
